:bulletgreen: Amazing episode IN SOME MANY WAYS!!!! I don't understand why but personally, I haven't found it a filler episode at all! They are talking about an akatsuki member's past. I wish we could see someday another episode about WHY he turned into a human puppet and killed 3rd kazekage!

:bulletgreen: I'm SO glad that Sasori flash back has been drawn and colored SO GOOD (the characters looked so good and some background scenes looked like a true masterpiece) if we compare it with the non-flash back scenes in the same episode about Chiyo vs. Kankuro fight. I loved Sasori's workshop btw (although it looks so different from the one of the old shippuden episodes)

:target: MY DOUBT

Ok, I have seen the episode subbed in 2 languages: in english and my native language. Both versions said just the opposite and the subs translations from the japanese audio looked so confusing and lame to me, so please I hope you understand why I'm still confused:

The english version I saw SEEMS to say that Chiyo was partially guilty of Sasori's friend death because she barely got the poison formula to the standard size and Sasori blindy trusted her (?) and this is why he delivered his friend turned into a puppet to Chiyo and the client who requested Sasori a puppet so they could feel remorse (?).
Question: It it's true that Chiyo was partially guilty for not checking the poison proportions carefully, then WHY did she suspect something about Sasori and what? Was she only afraid of the obsession his grandson had with HUMAN puppets after remembering that Sasori's friend told her that his grandson is so into human puppets? or... did she think that she made a wrong decission of letting Sasori try out that poison on his friend?

The clue to understand what's going on is in minute 11:20 - 13:20 of Naruto Shippuden episode #319

The english dialogues literally say there:

Sasori: I don't like to make people wait. From what I can see, I thought there would be more progress (ok, what kind of progress is Sasori talking about?).
Chiyo: Sasori, what are you doing?
Sasori: You (CHIYO) barely got it (the poison concentrations I guess) to the standard size.
*Chiyo vs. Sasori's friend human puppet fight scene*
Sasori: As requested, the model is finished

The version that I watched subbed in my native language suggested that Sasori tested out the poisson on his friend DELIBERATELY for his own purposes.
I don't know if he did it because he found his friend annoying, or just to use him as an experiment for his own purposes (to build his firts human puppet), or to make Chiyo guilty about her lack of responsibily when checking the poison concentrations.

Here you are what the dialogues literally say in the other version I watched:

Sasori: I don't like to make people wait, I (SASORI) took all the meassures at a guess and I think it/he (this pronoun in my language is neutral so I don't know if he's talking about the progress of the poison formula or his friend's body) already grew a little bit more.
Chiyo: Sasori, what are you doing?
Sasori: It's (I guess it's the poison) barely adapted to the standard size, isn't it?
*Chiyo vs. Sasori's friend human puppet fight scene*
S: As requested, the model is finished.

:target: My doubt is: Did Sasori killed his friend on purpose or was Chiyo partially guilty? If Sasori really killed his friend deliberately, WHY did he do it??? was that kid annoying and clumsy for Sasori or was he jelous about his friend's familiar situation and happiness? afskdfjklsdjfklashdgjsdghasdj

I think what Sasori did was poison his friend on purpose, so Sasori could make more of a puppet out of him. If the friend died, Sasori would've created a new puppet, if he hadn't however, one or two limbs probable wouldn't have kept working properly, letting Sasori create new ones for him. Yet I don't think that Sasori wanted his friend to die as he was the only one there who could relate to Sasori. My interpretation is that Sasori either wanted to kill his friend and turn him into a puppet so he would last forever, or that he would continue replacing parts of his friend real body with puppet material, so that his friend would never die, get older, or change. I think he would've preferred and hoped that his friend wouldn't have died, but he still went with it

I think it's kind of a combination of what everyone's saying. Sasori isn't as cold-hearted as he makes himself appear. Beneath it all, he was still sane and a good person. He was scarred in his childhood with the loss of his parents and his grandma lying to him about it. He tried to dehumanize everything. To break off from human emotions and only care about his "art". However, like he said, he couldn't completely become a puppet. In that last attack, he couldn't kill his grandma because he still cared about her. And he cared about his friend, Komushi, as well. When he gave him the puppet arm, it was an opportunity for him to test how puppet parts reacted with the human body, but he was really doing it to help his friend. He just had that logical escape so he wouldn't consider it a"human" thing to do. When his friend died, he felt that loss again. Even if he didn't show it, he really did care about his friend. He probably blamed himself for messing up with the poison, but that would mean he cared so he instead placed the blame on Chiyo. She was a professional and he trusted her. In his mind, he twisted it so that she was the one who messed up. And when Komushi's mother begged him to save her son, he did just that; he turned him into a puppet. He was following her request, but it had some retaliation mixed in. "Loss is unavoidable and there is no real way to bring back the dead." He made those puppets before to replace his dead parents, but they couldn't give him the love he wanted, they couldn't erase the loneliness he felt. He practically threw that in their faces by turning Komushi into a puppet. He also threw this at Chiyo because she had lied to him and been distant when he really needed her.

I guess it also explains why Sasori hates waiting and making others wait since he had to wait for forever for his parents to come back.

Wow, the episode was amazing but I never realized those masterpiece scenes until I saw your screenshots, wish they would make more episodes like this such as Deidara's past maybe?

Yes, he did kill his friend on purpose. Why? Likely because he wanted to make him into a human doll. He needed to test it out first, however. And what better way than to use his friend?

For all we know, Sasori could've seen it as a good thing - his friend helped contribute to his own studies of human puppets. He may not even see what he did as wrong.

I mean.. we all know that Sasori wanted to turn /himself/ into a living puppet, so it makes complete sense. He had to do a trial run first.

I think that he truned him in to a human puppet because he didn't what to lose his only friend and so made him that way so he'll never lose him

Wow, that's quite extensive on the references. The last pic made me literally go "pffft xD"

While I was glad to see more of Sasori's past, it was like giving me a single chocolate kiss. I need MORE now, MOAR! :pissedoff:

It also confused me and the memories seemed a bit rushed and like you, left me with questions.

All I really can figure is that..Chiyo lied to her grandson about their parents' deaths, him being a perceptive child eventually found out in the end--or came to the conclusion, and like how you realize that your mom is a negligent alcoholic, your fairy tale world of "Childhood" is shattered. He grows very distant and stoic, and Chiyo pretends not to see that she's living under the same roof as an aloof sociopath.

I think the kid poisoned himself. Either he was fitted with the prosthetic and secretly had a compartment of poison that entered his body with him unaware or he knicked himself on his own hand-blade.

Chiyo I think feels responsible because she gave him the ingredients without pressing further on the ratio mixture. Therefore, she could not save the boy.

I don't think he found the kid annoying. I just think he really didn't care and look, he's a living, breathing, unsuspecting potential test subject. I'd like to think he wasn't so petty as to say "YOU MADE ME LIKE THIS, GRANDMA!!" but more as "Well, your human instinct to avoid me and to let me be.. look what happened as a result, hm? :iconsasorirapefaceplz: "

I'm saying "I think" a lot in this message, LOL. Well, since Chiyo is dead, and Deidara is..what, incapacitated, Dead? I don't know.. there are no logical "ties" to bring up memories of Sasori's past, especially when he himself has passed on. I don't think we'll get another Akatsuki background story of him or any other character :(

i think the poisoning of sasori's friend was somewhat of an accident but Chiyo blamed herself for it. When Sasori heard the mother's pleas and cries he processed it in the only way he could and "healed" his friend the same way he "healed" his arm, by turning it into a puppet. Chiyo is then horrified that this is the only way Sasori can process the information, in this mechanical, cold fashion.

though this is just my take on it. :P

in my language it says like in yours, and I understood that he deliberately used his friend as a test for his human puppets...and I'm also pretty sure that he wanted to kill him because he was jealous of his happy family :iconyesyesplz:
kiadony Featured By Owner Jun 29, 2013
I agree with people above me - I think Sasori did indeed poison that guy (notice how much emphasis was put on Sasori being cold-hearted), and Chiyo blamed herself for letting Sasori become this way.
PhoebeBang Featured By Owner Jun 28, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
This episode was indeed amazing, but I think Sasori doesn't really blame the mistake of the poisson on granny Chiyo, but Chiyo does blame it on herself... I dunno, that's how I got it.
The-PorcelainDoll Featured By Owner Jun 28, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I personally think he poisoned his friend on purpose, for his own goals. You know, like a test run. To figure out how the body would accept Puppet parts, or he just intentionally poisoned him to work on his friend's body to develop his Human Puppet Technique. Either way, I believe it was all deliberately done. It does show a lot more of Sasori's twisted personality, and how much Chiyo truly blames herself for his outcome.

However, the episode in general, I found extremely delightful, and informative. Especially near the end with the family photo, and the playing dead with Kankuro. That was beyond funny! :XD: Not to mention the last picture you screenshotted. I literally laughed so hard I couldn't breathe. LOL Only you would do something, or even notice something like that!

I was under the impression that Sasori used the friend as an experiment on turning a human into a puppet. I thought that all Chiyo did was get clearance for him to have the poisons. Because of that, I thought Sasori might have fiddled with the poison. Maybe Chiyo feels guilty because she thinks he was working to bring his parents back in a more real way? I have no idea about that last part. Lol I could be totally off.
